A Cozy Birthday Escape: 48 Hours in the Poconos with My Love

We ended up driving up Saturday night because I wasn’t feeling great, but by God’s grace we made it!
Since we had about a 2.5-hour drive to the middle of nowhere, we hit every grocery store before leaving. We grabbed a cooler to keep our meat and cold stuff fresh because, honestly, we weren’t planning to leave the Airbnb after we got there—we were staying two nights.

I also needed a few last-minute things for his birthday surprise. Once we got everything, we hit the road. Does anyone else knock out in the passenger seat while their man drives? But he was tired, so I stayed up to keep him company.
When we finally arrived, he unpacked the car, and I ran upstairs to the bedroom to start decorating. It took way longer than I expected (because, yes, I’m just a girl). I even had to tell him to make me some food and shower to buy me more time, but finally, I finished and got to surprise my man! He loved it. It was simple and cute, but it’s the thought that counts. We were tired, showered, and just ended the night watching a movie together.
Sunday Morning
We started with steak and eggs for breakfast, then went for a walk around Harveys Lake.

Disclaimer: I was nervous about the area being racist or Trump Everything, but the people were super friendly. They spoke to us and made us feel welcome, but we still headed back inside after our walk.
Back at the Airbnb, we got in the hot tub and loved the nice weather (it wasn’t too cold yet). We had some mimosas and got a little day-drunk! Afterward, we showered and took a nap, just enjoying being lazy together. Definitely my love language.
Sunday Night

Later, we got up to make dinner, and baby, we made a spread: steak, mac n cheese, potatoes, salad, and the cutest apple cider mocktails. After dinner, we had a game night: Uno, Guess Who, Monopoly, and yes, even those freaky couple games. A lot of laughs and good memories.
Before we knew it, it was time to check out.
